Best Portable record player made in over 20 years, and it records too!Mar 23, 2007
By Ivan Rodriguez This is the sounding portable turntable made in over 20 years. The sound is not only great but thanks to the magnetic cartridge your recordings will sound awesome too! The cartridge is P-mount so you can easily install another cartridge if you want. Yes there is a cheap version of this unit under model GF-350, but the sound is very poor and your recordings will suffer. If you are serious about making high quality archives of your precious records there is no better solution out there right now. It is very easy to use, put the needle in the record and press record. It stops recording automatically when the side is over. If you run out of CD space it will even gradually fade the volume for you. It also makes a great portable record player.

TEAC GF-650 Retro Style Turntable/CD RecorderDec 28, 2007
By Norman D. Herring
"Norm H."
Overall, the TEAC GF-650 has been performing very well for us in recording from CD's and (mostly) our collection of lp's. The user instructions are adequate and the TEAC's sound reproduction is very good. However, the control buttons need to be better marked and lighted as they are not easy to read unless the machine is at eye level or under a bright light. The turntable switches are almost hidden and are somewhat inconvenient to reach and a major item missing from the turntable is a stylus lockdown clip!

JUNQUE!!Jul 11, 2008
By Frank Rowley After reading the reviews, I thought this would be a great birthday gift for my sweet spouse. The one we received was unuseable due to a manufacturing problem with the tone arm. TEAC's customer service's (a misnomer if there ever was one) offered solution was, If I would send it in (at my non-reimbursable expense) or take it to the nearest authorized repair shop (92 miles one way) they would see if they could fix it. That is a new strategy, sell the customer a faulty product, then make the customer pay to make it right. The product may work, I will never know. I'm out shipping both ways--the folks at TEAC America really don't care. So, if you think you might be luck enough to get one that was built correctly, go ahead. However, if you have a choice between dealing with TEAC America or closing your head in the car door--opt for the door. It will be a lot less painful in the long run.

Pleasantly SurprisedMar 09, 2009

After reading the reviews for the TEAC GF-350, I was concerned about buying the TEAC GF-650. No need to worry though. The magnetic cartridge makes the recording quality superior and there's no problem with the bass. Plus, the process is very simple with very easy to understand directions. I recommend the product highly to anyone wanting to convert their LPs or 45s to CD.
