This book covers everything you wanted to know about Retail!Dec 31, 2007
By Tyler E. The cover of this book made me hesitant to guy. But, after reading its prologue i decided to take a chance and was glad i did.
I recently purchased several retail books, including this one. Of these books, I found this one most useful.
One problem i have had with other retail books is that they spent too much time talking about hiring/firing people, incorporating the business etc. and very little on running the business itself (advertising, customer sales, inventory control, store look etc).
With that said, this book really focuses on the core elements of operating a retail business. It has chapters dedicated to your store layout, inventory control, pricing and negotiating with your suppliers, day-to-day operations, etc. It also does have chapters focused on incorporating, naming business, advertising, sales techniques, trademarking, website etc. But, focus is on running a retail business, how to make sales, how to keep costs in line with your budget.
I am somewhat generalizing here as i cant really explain how in depth this book really is. I can only say that if you want to start a retail business, whether its a coffee shop or a department store, then definitely buy this book!
I enjoyed this book so much, that i have since purchased other books under this publisher series.
