Great idea but design needs work.Apr 02, 2009
By Eugene Rho The phone is great because it provides the user with the functionality of a phone as well as a portable console all in one product. Sometimes you need access to the alarm system that is beyond the scope of the keychain remote, like set the alarm to instant, monitor the house when doors and windows open, and use it as an intercom when you away from a console, like in the basement or in the back yard. Its a brilliant idea.
Some drawbacks I had with this product are listed below:
1. The buttons are raised so accidentally pressing buttons and making unintentional phone calls is all too frequent.
2. The battery life seems very short. I take the phone off the charger every morning and when I come back from work its already down to half. I understand that it has to be in constant communication with all the sensors at all times and drains power that way, but it can get annoying.
3. The LCD screen is too small and contains a lot of information making it confusing at times.
I know it isn't fair to conpare this phone to my DECT 6.0 V-tech, but I believe if Ingrid designs a replacement addressing some of these issues, they would have a solid product. Overall this is still a must have and is a great compliment to this security system.
