5Great ResourceJan 31, 2011

I teach an entrepreneurial workshop for teens and this book had a lot of great ideas. I am a firm believer that readers do better at almost everything than their non-reading counterparts, so I recommend a booklist to the kids who attend my workshop. 50 Great Businesses for Teens is on my list. The material is a little dated (1997), especially when it comes to tech businesses, but overall, it is an excellent resource. The author lays out the basics of starting and growing ANY business, then goes into a good amount of detail on the 50 ideas she offers. Well researched, easy to read, and thorough. One thing I really admire is the fact that she didn't talk down to teens. So many books I reviewed/researched for the workshop were almost insulting or silly. This is a resource for any serious young businessperson.

5This is a great book!Jun 20, 2000

I love this book. I haven't started any business yet, but I love the ideas because they tell you exactly how to run a business, complete with information on taxes and licenses.

My favorite business listed is "Greeting Cards" because I have been making computer greeting cards for my family for years for free! If I can turn this into a business with the help of this book, I can earn big $$$!

I also liked how the author told about some teen entreprenuers and how they earned money through owning a business. I can't wait to get started!
